Description
Up for auction is a very nice copy of the Sonny Rollins soundtrack album "Alfie" released on Impulse Records (A-9111) in 1966. This is an original MONO pressing with "Vangelder" stamped in the dead wax. Gatefold cover. Cover is in nice condition. Front glossy lamination is still shiny and attractive, not age discolored like so many copies out there. Corners sharp, seams tight, no splits. Back cover looks nice, though it has areas of rubbing of the lamination that can be seen only under certain light conditions. Lamination along open edge shows a little lifting for a couple inches in the upper left. One chip of laminate missing. See photo. Inside gatefold is in really nice condition, bone white, no age discoloration, though previous owner has made a couple small notations on the song list (see photo). Spine strong, no creases. Overall, the cover presents very well. I will grade it Excellent (EX+). The vinyl is also in very nice condition. Nice original shine and sheen. No obvious scratches or scuffs, though it does show, under certain light conditions, very tiny hairlines on each side from taking the disc in and out of the paper inner sleeve. Disc shows signs of having been previously played and enjoyed; however, it obviously has been very well-taken care of and handled gently. No obvious spindle trails, though one side it's hard to tell. Labels look very clean and bright, un-rubbed. Play tested, this records sounds really nice, clean and generally quiet when it needs to be. I would grade this record Excellent Plus (EX+), not quite Near Mint. One of the nicer MONO copies that you're going to come across out there.
