I have a job in an automotive related field and took a substantial pay cut this year. I enjoy my job, but at 55, I'm not interested in looking for another. Auction Format

I have over 12,000 LP's.

All my auctions will start at $9.95. This may be a single LP or multiple LP's as a lot.

I will list by artist. That means ALL LP's I have from that artist will be auctioned at the same time as individual or lot auctions.

If a buyer asks me to list an LP, I will list that LP, AND all others by that artist.

Background

I was single for 45 years. During that time I had many varied hobbies and interests. Music was my all time love. (Until I met my wife!) I played guitar, drums, keyboards, wrote, and recorded original music. I designed and built a music room in my home with dance floor, 10 speakers, quadraphonic sound system, soundproofing, laser light shows and filled it to capacity with over 12,000 LP's, 1000 45's, and all kinds of Rock & Roll music memorabilia. My home was nicknamed, 'The House of Rock and Roll'! I impressed my friends when they came over and approached me with the phrase, 'I bet you don't have.....' I simply went to the 'shelves', which were in alphabetical order by artist, and pulled out an album containing their song title!

As I approach retirement, my musical memories will remain with me, but my vast musical collection has to downsize.

Preparation before the sales

Prior to beginning this overwhelming selling adventure, I spoke with many eBay record sellers to get some tips and suggestions. I'm happy to say that many of them are now friends! ebay benefits us in many ways! I have purchased my postal scales, LP record mailers, rolls of bubble wrap, plastic sleeves, a VPI record cleaning machine, price guides, and done a lot of research!

Communication

During my accelerated selling on ebay this year, I have run into many types of buyers and sellers. Let me tell you about THIS seller!

I check my emails and ebay site many times during the day and evening. I respond to questions within a day, if not sooner. The ONLY exception to this is when my wife and I exhibit at art shows on the weekends. I try to schedule my auctions so that they don't conflict with our art shows. I send winning notifications after the auction closes. I send out shipping confirmations after I have mailed items. This is IN ADDITION to all the automated emails sent by eBay and pay pal. I ask that you inform me if you are bidding on additional items, so I DO NOT box your item and so that you can save on combined shipping costs. After 7 days, if I receive no payment or communication from you I will inform eBay.

Customer Satisfaction

With my large collection, I will be selling records for a long time. As a seller I endeavor to describe, package, and complete each transaction with professionalism, consideration, and respect. My goal is seeing that you are a satisfied customer, so that I receive positive feedback, and you will buy from me again. Please communicate ANY concerns you have after receiving your purchase.

Grading (Goldmine)

Unless otherwise noted, records are visually graded.

All single lot auction records will be cleaned on my VPI record cleaning machine.

Unless noted, every record is an original issue for the label and catalog number given.

All LPs have been stored vertically on shelves in my climate controlled music room in my home.

Still Sealed (SS)

NEVER opened. NO re-sealed records.

Near Mint (NM or M-):

A nearly perfect record.

The record should show no obvious signs of wear.

An LP jacket should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and the like.

Basically, an LP in Near Mint condition looks as if you just got it home new from a record store and removed the shrink wrap.

Very Good Plus (VG+):

A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.

Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are okay.

The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play.

Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned-up corners or a slight seam-split. An LP jacket may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount.

In general, if not for a couple of minor things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable.

Very Good (VG, VG-):

Noticeable surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade. Groove wear will be noticeable, as will scratches that will affect the sound.

Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers.

Good (G)

In the record world, 'Good' is not good! From here on down we're talking about beat up records.

Packaging

All record albums in my single auction lots are bagged in a plastic sleeve, with the LP outside the cover. Shipped with bubble wrap in a professional LP mailer. Quantities larger than will fit in a LP mailer will be shipped in a larger box.

Payment

Payment or communication is required within 7 days of auction end.

Payment method is Pay Pal or Money Order.

You pay FAST, I Ship FAST!

Shipping & Handling

I am not a store. Shipping & Handling costs are more than just the shipping. They cover the reasonable cost of labor and packaging material.

Multiple purchases will be combined to save on Shipping & Handling costs. Please inform me when bidding on additional auctions.

Delivery confirmations are included with all US shipments.

My initial shipping method is Media Mail, only because of the lower cost to the buyer. I will gladly ship Priority Mail, which I prefer. You must communicate your desire to ship non Media mail!

I ship worldwide and have had great transactions with international customers, but the majority of them do not want insurance because of customs, duties, etc. I WILL provide proof of mailing if needed, but in the rare event that something is lost in the mail, I cannot be responsible for non insured items, the Post Office IS responsible!
