Reissued to mark its 40th anniversary, this is the Scottish new wave legends Simple Minds' most commercially successful release to-date. They were seven albums and eight years into their career when they became stadium-sized with this. They were already big in Europe and Australia with the album preceding this - 1984's Sparkle In The Rain - but not in the States. The key thing that elevated them was that this album came out just after they had success with the glorious song 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' from the iconic 80s film The Breakfast Club. The original album never included that song meaning it was eight tracks, but this reissue has it alongside some more belters, including 'Alive And Kicking', 'All The Things She Said' and 'Sanctify Yourself', which were top ten hits both sides of the pond. If you're looking for a stacked album of wall-to-wall bangers that make you feel triumphant and door into the better side of 80s pop then look no further.
