Original UK 7" Emidisc Music Publishers Acetate - Pattern Music Ltd , 5 Denmark Street , London

A really unique Simon & Garfunkel item - Two CBS tracks on an Emidisc !

The previous owner (Pattern Music) recalls that the two tracks were suggested for release as a UK 45rpm release in 1969 or 1970 , a promotion manager telephoned for the acetate to be cut ....... then no more was heard about it ! It has remained in a box of big band acetates since ......... The previous owner is sure that more than one was made ......... so is genuinely unique

An acetate is a metal blank sprayed with a shellac mixture , then the recording to be transfered to disc is physically 'cut' onto the the disc using a cutting machine (similar to an engineering lathe) Acetate cutting was the first stage of transfering tape to disc .............

The two songs are Stereophonic reproduction , and I believe are the finished versions ..................

The disc has only light surface wear , with no heavy marks ... just a few very light traces

There is a light bend in the disc (dishing) , but in no way affects play

The disc plays through very well , with some surface noise evident

I usually start auctions at a low price to generate interest in bidding

All items are graded Audio / Visually , and played on a high grade system

Please feel able to bid with confidence , as a collector myself I understand the requirements in the gradings of discs and sleeves , and how important it is to recieve items in the condition as advertised

I grade items ( using the UK Record Collector Grading System) beneath a light , to be sure of condition

I do not believe it is necessary to use the eBay buzzwords such as STUNNING !! RARE !! AWESOME !! , padded out with grossly long winded 'descriptions' ..... Many of the 'experts' who use this method of selling also add technical information , which is totally unfounded and does not correspond with the actual facts , and would be laughable but for the fact it is totally misleading. I take time and care to graded items correctly , and only list quality records , with concise , accurate grading descriptions

I have been a lifelong music fan , my first concert visit was in 1957 (Birmingham Town Hall Skiffle Contest !) and have bought records of all the great music since 1959 , and had the privelege of seeing most of the great artists 'live' ( I saw The Beatles twice and Segovia !)

I began selling professionally in 1976 , and have a wide knowledge of the items I sell (and always learning !) having bought copies of my own at time of issue , always being interested in the sleeve , label and disc variations. If you have any queries , I will do my best to answer correctly
