Description

This is the original deep-groove RVG-stamped “P”-pressing of Walter Davis “Davis Cup” on the West 63rd labels of Blue Note BLP 4018. Although the playing surface looks close to new, with a high luster, there is a low level of “crackling”. (Three separate copies were play-graded and all – including one that looked new – had a low level of “crackling”. This may be typical of BLP 4018.) The laminated West 63rd cover has just a 1/8” nick on the top seam and foxing on the back slick. The upper right corner of the back is inscribed “To Jose, Walter Davis piano, ‘77”.
