Condition

Very Fine (VF) is a poster with bright colour and a clean overall appearance. It may have one or more general signs of use such as slight fold separation, fold wear, pin holes, or very minor tears.

Condition Descriptions

Mint (M) is a poster that has never been used or displayed. May show extremely minor signs of age. Folded posters may show very minimal wear at the folds due to storage. The posters should have no holes, no tears and no paper loss.

Near Mint (NM) is a poster that appears fresh and lightly used, with saturated colours. Folded posters may show very minimal wear at the folds. The posters should have no holes, no tears and no paper loss.

Very Fine (VF) is a poster with bright colour and a clean overall appearance. It may have one or more general signs of use such as slight fold separation, fold wear, pin holes, or very minor tears.

Fine (F) is a poster with good colour and a very presentable overall appearance. It may have tears, slight paper loss, pin holes, minor stains and some fold separation.

Very Good (VG) is a poster with either bright or only slightly faded colour and presentable overall appearance. It may have some paper loss, staining, writing in unobtrusive places, tears, pin holes, fold separation and tape supporting the back of the poster.

Good (G) is an average poster showing general signs of age wear, which may have some colour fading, paper loss, staining, writing, tears, pin holes, fold separation, tape, tape stains, signs of aged paper and need restoration.

Fair (FR) is a below average poster showing significant signs of use and age, which may have some colour fading, paper loss, staining, writing, tears, pin holes, fold separation, tape, tape stains, signs of aged paper and definitely needing significant restoration.

Poor (P) is a poster that is in dire need of restoration.

About Us

All Items for sale here are from the collection of Alan Moore. Alan spent a lifetime collecting movie memorabilia, which began before he was a teenager, going to the Paramount Pictures building in Surry Hills (Sydney) on weekends in the 1950’s collecting the used posters that had been returned to the company. This passion continued for 60 years, during which time he traveled the world, collecting an amazing array of unique and rare memorabilia. We now wish to pass on parts of his collection to those who may appreciate them as much as he did. Of course, we will continue to treasure some parts, including some of his most prized Doris Day memorabilia.

Additional Notes to Condition Description

Please be advised that almost all Original Movie Posters printed before the mid 1990's were issued FOLDED. This is NOT considered a defect. They were shipped to cinema this way. Vintage rolled posters do exist, however they are extremely rare.

Also, please note that most movie posters and lobby cards were actually used at the cinema, and some will contain slight imperfections such as: writing on the back, pin holes, fold wear, small tears, stickers etc. These are all very common and to be expected, but if they bother you, all these minor flaws (except stickers) can be remedied using process such as linen backing. Additionally, sheet music was often signed on the front by the owner, and it is quite rare to find sheet music without something added to the front page.

We do not always measure all of our posters exactly. Unless otherwise specified, poster measurements quoted above are approximate to the nearest inch. This slight variance is quite common for all original movie posters, depending on the manufacturer used.

BEWARE OF "FAKE" MOVIE POSTERS!

There are fakes, bootlegs, reprints, and reproductions of almost every popular movie poster. WE WILL ONLY EVER SELL ORIGINAL POSTERS! There are people out there who pass off these posters as originals. These fakes can be almost indistinguishable from originals, only experts can tell. They usually appear in insert (daybill) size 14" x 36" and one sheet size 27" x 41". Again, all we can say is BEWARE!
