Description

SHAWN ROBINSON "My Dear Heart"/"Find Love Right Now" on Minit 32013. Both sides of the record grade a visual strong VG+. "My Dear Heart" plays a strong VG+ to VG++. There are two pops at the beginning, but it plays flawlessly after that. Listen to an .mp3 of the actual record here:

There has always been some uncertainty in the collector's community about the extent of the Detroit involvement of this record. The record lists Ed Wingate's Myto publishing and producers and arrangers that were common to the Midwest and Detroit, but the record just doesn't sound completely like Golden World or Detroit and was released on what was at the time an LA label, Minit. Well, interestingly enough, I recently obtained a copy of an unreleased recording of Diana Ross performing this song at Golden World from a former Golden World engineer. The Diana Ross version is amazing and definitely sounds like Detroit and Golden World. What Diana Ross was doing recording at Golden World is a mystery. It could have been after Gordy took over ownership of the studios and Myto pub., but that's speculation. Whether or not Shawn Robinson's version was recorded in Detroit is still unknown. It doesn't have the Golden World sound, especially the drums, but it's pretty close. The arrangement and instrumentation are exactly the same as the Ross version. Hard to say.
