On 15-Aug-09 at 14:20:06 BST, seller added the following information:
Having played this only once it has real progressive, PROG, influences at times with heavy distorted guitar very similar to what Jimi Hendrix was doing at the time. In fact Jimi Hendrix was a label mate at the time and I wonder if there was any cross influence? Much more likely that Reality were influenced by Hendrix!!! I wondered even if they had sneaked Hendrix in on a session. Hendrix was recording for Track which was owned by Polydor and all of his early releases were on Track, then later reissued on the Polydor label.
On 16-Aug-09 at 18:37:52 BST, seller added the following information:A couple of additional notes to the previous information about this record. It is the group which is called Secondhand and the album name is Reality, not the other way around. The Group consisted of Kenny Elliott on lead vocals and Keyboard, Nick South on bass guitar, Arthur Kitchener on Bass guar, Bob Gibbons on lead guitars and Kieran O'Connor on percussion. Chris Williams played cello, flute and saxophone and helped arrange "Reality". Sleeve design by Diogenic Attempts Ltd. (this company was also responsible for the "Unhalfbricking" cover for Fairport Convention and "Direct Hits" by The Who. Both of whom had been on the Track Label in 1967. They were also responsible for Nick Drake's "Five Leaves Left" cover, probably having been introduced by Fairport. The band apparently had links to Fungus, Chillum, Vulcans & Seventh Wave. Both Secondhand and Andreas Thomopoulous with who the band were also linked issued records on the rare and collectable Mushroom Record Label. "Death May Be Your Santa Claus" was the Mushroom LP which the group released in 1972. Another copy of this LP sold recently on Ebay with the record in EX rather than my copy which is NM. It sold for £190.00. A similar copy sold a couple of years ago for £440.00.
