THE DOORS – “WAITING FOR THE SUN” Label: Elektra Records – EKL-4024 (MONO) Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Mono Country: USA Released: 1968 Genre: Rock Style: Psychedelic Rock, Classic Rock 💿 DESCRIPTION Ultra-rare original 1968 U.S. first pressing MONO edition of “Waiting for the Sun”, the third studio album by The Doors. Issued on Elektra Records, New York address (1855 Broadway, NY 10023) — this is the true first mono release pressed in extremely limited quantities before the label fully switched to stereo. Original catalog number EKL-4024 appears on both cover and spine. Still factory-sealed in original 1968 Elektra shrinkwrap with authentic tight folds and texture typical for late-60s Elektra packaging. 💎 CONDITION VINYL: Presumed MINT (unplayed) COVER: Factory-sealed, never opened (corner wear, resulting in small tears to the original shrink wrap in those areas)
🧾 NOTES FOR COLLECTORS This mono version (EKL-4024) was cut separately from the stereo mix (EKS-74024) and offers a noticeably different soundstage and balance — especially in Hello, I Love You and The Unknown Soldier. Because Elektra phased out mono shortly after release, less than a few thousand mono copies were ever pressed, making it one of the rarest original Doors LPs in existence, especially in sealed condition.
