Terrific 1981 Bomp! Records reissue of 1972 legendary master tapes of the Modern Lovers, produced by the infamous Kim Fowler.

There are those who prefer these original vault masters to those produced by John Cale (Velvet Underground). You be the judge. Both versions are virtuous in their own respectable ways.

This songs rank right up there with the very best of the seminal proto-punk records of the late 1960s and early 1970s—genuinely artsy and primitive enough for the greatest music critics to hail Jonathan Richman as the next Lou Reed.

Every song is a gem, but the all-time legitimate classic is the often covered "Road Runner," for which there are two versions exclusively on this specific LP release.

This LP is a timeless example of solid songwriting and minimalistic musicianship, also touting the talents of future Talking Heads guitarist Jerry Harrison and future Cars drummer David Robinson.
