Description

Up for auction is an off the chart MEGA RARE SEALED Jackson Browne-Running On Empty - NIMBUS SUPERCUT Audiophile Vinyl LP. This could very well be the ONLY ONE in existence that is still SEALED!!!!! This pressing almost never comes up for auction compared to most of the other Nimbus Supercut LPs as collectors rarely if ever sell them. And with it being a SEALED COPY it stands alone. The pressing has unbelievable sonics. Nimbus Supercut LPs are some of the rarest audiophile LPs ever issued due in part to a limited run of only about 1000 per title that were only available by mail order in England. Nimbus Supercut LPs were released as a special promotion available only to readers of Practical Hi-Fi and Hi-Fi today magazines in the UK during the early 1980s. They were pressed in limited quantities and are much rarer than many releases from Mobile Fidelity, Sweet Thunder, Nautilus, DCC and others. Nimbus Records established the need for high quality record releases, as most mainstream vinyl at the time were mastered from poor master copies and pressed on poor quality recycled vinyl that added much noise to the LP. In contrast with this release, Nimbus Records went back to the original master tapes for an all-analog pressing, resulting in what some say is legendary and the best sounding version of the album available. Please check online forums to find discussion of the incredible sound of this pressing and the great difficulty in finding it. The LP is pressed on an extremely pure vinyl, a special PVC powder blend made by ICI especially for Nimbus Records, which has exceptional frequency reproduction and is virtually noise free. This issue is arguably the best sounding release of this album ever available on any format. A superb master which has been carefully crafted. Simply unbelievable sound quality. I wrote to Gerald Reynolds who was the mastering engineer who made the Supercut version LPs as I wanted to find out some facts about how these were actually produced. I had heard much speculation about these LPs and Mr. Reynolds was very kind to take the time to give me some specifics. He mentioned among many things the special lathe used 'A Neumann lathe with varigroove electronics developed by Dr. Jonathan Halliday' and the Neumann SX 74 cutter head driver by Neumann 300 watt valve amplifiers that had huge headroom, along with no elliptical equalizing used ... and other fascinating items. So one can clearly see these LP's are very different in how they were pressed and what type of equipment was used. This is missing though the real reason for the superior sonics and that is the skill and craftsmanship of the engineer and the skill of the person who made the stampers. Nice job guys! Vinyl is SEALED in the original shrink wrap. There is a one inch seam separation starting on the top middle portion of the spine of the LP but the shrink wrap is soundly intact around the entire LP without any breaks in it, PERFECTLY SEALED. It is very difficult to find Nimbus SuperCut LP jackets in Mint condition as the jacket construction did not have the same level of quality as the vinyl LP did. With the huge resurgence of analog vinyl don't miss this chance to own this, ESPECIALLY A SEALED NIMBUS SUPERCUT, I don't think you'll ever find another one listed again. I am starting bidding at just slightly less than I paid. Don't pass this one up. Item will be extremely well packaged and will be double boxed to assure its safe arrival to you. Buyer to pay for all shipping costs. Prefer Paypal. Goodluck.
