PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Probably it's the bad cover that causes record collectors to ignore this Lp (country Joe's wedding no less) but buried within are killer psychedelic nuggets on par with the first two Lp's::::
Seriously Underestimated 1969 3rd album is on the level & features similar acid injections as the first two albums: "Electric Music" & "Fixen To Die" ...what's hard to figure, is 1969's "Together" was Country Joe & The Fish's best selling album ... without a 'hit song', the album sold very well with massive group exposure in the 1969 Woodstock rock festival & the movie from the same year.
Known for their overt "acid rock" sound, "Together" delivers psychedelic West Coast styles that should easily be of interest to any fan '60s psych. Highlights are all over both sides, as in the rather amazing psychedelic track "Cetacean" hear lysergic guitar nirvana overlayed upon a killer melody. Elsewhere are the shimmering reverberations of "Susan" (pure LSD vibes) and the haunting "Untitled protest"
The one thing that Country Joe & the Fish can never be faulted on through their first three releases (this one included) is the quality of the musicianship and the overall production. On 'Together', they continue their exploration of multiple styles (which was amply noticeable on 'I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die'), making serious (and humorous) inroads into several areas new to them.
"Rock and Soul Music" is a driving hard blend of rocked-out R & B with an excitably intense vocal...
"Susan" a holdout from the dominant style of the first album ['Electric Music for the Mind and Body']. Definitely a diamond in the rough.
"Mojo Navigator" Drug rock similar to the style of the song "Love" from the first album.
"Bright Suburban Mr. & Mrs. Clean Machine" Hippie vaudeville style music, a satire on the middle class lifestyle. Vocals have that 'megaphone' sound.
"Good Guys/Bad Guys Cheer/The Streets of Your Town" Song about Joe's bad impression of a visit to NYC. Biting satire, powerful rocker, and extremely effective. Still affects the way one feel's about that city:

Well square is not the word for the sucking, squeezing herd . . .
The subway is not the underground!"
"The Fish Moan" the Fish on a downer...lots of 'moaning'....bad acid.
"The Harlem Song" More hippie vaudeville, and even better. In the middle is a very long spoken/shouted dialogue between a somewhat egregious country fellow from the South and a Harlem resident, brutally satirizing racial stereotypes, but doing it in the most hilarious and skillful way imaginable.
"Waltzing in the Moonlight" Fish flamenco = well executed and memorable, once it sinks in it claws to your skull. Not the first American flamenco rock of the psychedelic era--that distinction probably belongs to the Doors, who used a traditional guitar introduction to their "Spanish Caravan" from the 'Waiting for the Sun' album.
"Away Bounce My Bubbles" Watery, happy meditation, mostly instrumental West Coast highs.
"Cetacean" Here the Fish meet the Cetaceans (biological classification for the family of sea mammals which includes, whales, dolphins, porpoises, etc.). Change the settings on the lead guitar and...Betcha never heard acid surf before!
"An Untitled Protest" A very powerful, poetically graphic Vietnam war protest song, sang/wailed by Joe [accompanied only by an organ droning in a minor key]; this one has to be heard to be believed. Haunting.
