STILL SEALED ....never opened in over 40 years...a perfect copy of the original silver foil thick gatefold cover 2xLp set ...The March 17, 1969 release is harder to find SEALED than you might imagine...First of all 40+ year old silver foil covers shoew scuffs and marks very easily, this one stone mint, like new ...no delete marks, no bends, no split seams...a perfect original from 1969....
The album contained the Rascals'#1 hit single "People Got To Be Free," which was released in advance of the album in mid-1968. "Any Dance'll Do" and "Heaven" were also issued as singles. The rare sticker is on the outside of the cellophane wrapper for these 45's included in the set...a very rare sticker as most all copies shrink wrappers were torn off and the hit singles titles sticker too...
Freedom Suite was an ambitious effort and something of a concept album, as musicians were wont to produce at the time. Packaging included a shiny silver gatefold album cover, colored sleeves with the song lyrics printed on them, and illustrations drawn by members of the group. The latter varied from idealistic visions of trumpeting angels to Eastern-influenced sketchings to drummer Dino Danelli's faithful homage to El Greco's Christ. The inclusion of the lengthy group jams - one polished track ("Adrian's Birthday"), the other jam session ("Cute"), and a Danelli percussion experience ("Boom") - seemed an effort by The Rascals to establish themselves as an "album" group rather than a "singles" group.
