NOTE: eBay has implemented its new FEEDBACK policy to which ANY customer for ANY reason or ANY excuse can give sellers (i.e. "us") negative feedback. Please understand, we have served thousands of "satisfied" customers and processed thousands of orders - far more than our feedback records indicate - It is our intention to give EACH and EVERY buyer our best possible service and we are known to ALWAYS deliver your purchased item. ALL items paid for are processsed 'outbound' to each and EVERY customer, satisfaction guaranteed. Keep in mind we have serviced THOUSANDS of satisfied customers and our aim is to continue to do so.
We make every effort to mail all orders out Friday of each week. Keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two at most. We also strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.
TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS: We often get requests to hold orders to save on shipping. We are happy to do that. Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and IF YOU REQUEST we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel. To receive continual shipping discounts, we will hold your orders as long as you want, but it is necessary to pay each invoice you receive to stay current. Most importantly, we appreciate your business.
1968 STILL FACTORY SEALED
THE RAREST :
NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND
RARE JUNK
...USA - LIBERTY RECORDS - LST 7540
STILL SEALED*...(( never opened in 42 years !!!)) ORIGINAL 1968 first pressing ...the hardest to find of the good late 60's albums by this crew of stoned cool cats ...
*In the sixties, some major label companies (Liberty, Columbia, etc) issued their albums new sealed in the plastic baggy inner sleeve ...this is the case here, the record never having been opened and is still sealed from 42 years ago.
RARE JUNK indeed....the group's third album release, was only around a short time, becoming their rarest album -- and was actually a collection of essential unused tunes that may have been even better than tunes on their first two albums -- filled with unreleased tracks and singles that formed a respectable 10-song LP. As a sign of just how strong the band was, it still represented a step forward from their second album, and is one of the great unknown albums of 1968.
Rare Junk includes a great version of "Willie the Weeper" (with its familiar "Hi de hi dee ho" chorus), the same song can be found on Kaleidoscope's "Side Trips" album, but called "Minnie The Moocher." Then a slew of highlights follow, including "Collegiana" (done jug band style), "Cornbread and 'Lasses," Tim Hardin's "Reason to Believe," and early member Jackson Browne's "These Days" in one of its better (and surprisingly upbeat) versions. Some of this stuff is so self-conscious in its humor -- "Sadie Green the Vamp of New Orleans" and "Dr. Heckle and Mr. Jibe" come to mind -- that it's hard to believe that it was recorded with much confidence of success, but it works musically, capturing the stoned hipster side of the band's orientation better than anything on their first two LPs.
Future Kaleidoscope member Chis Darrow was in this merry band of tripsters
Reason to Believe End of Your Line Willie the Weeper Hesitation Blues (Oh! Baby Must I Hesitate?) Sadie Green (The Vamp from New Orleans) Collegiana Dr. Heckle and Mr. Jibe Cornbread and 'Lasses (Sassafrass Tea) Number and a Name Mournin' Blues These Days
