PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Two Hangmen Mason Proffit Wanted

[isdntekvideo]Mason Proffit was a hippie rural-rock group from Chicago, featuring brothers Terry & John Talbot. They are probably most well known for their FM radio classic "Two Hangmen" from this first album, "Wanted". It is a beautiful final collection copy with gorgeous gatefold cover! Fans of the late '60s Byrds & Buffalo Springfield should take notice... years so here they are!
By the mid-Sixties many artists, such as The Byrds and Buffalo Springfield, had blended folk music with rock music to create the sub-genre known as rural folk & hippie-rock mixes. Mason Profitt fell into this category. The band was formed by brothers Terry and John Talbot.
Mason Proffit developed a bit of a following, with successful tours and sold-out concerts. They opened for The Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin, among others. From 1969 to 1974 they released five albums. Despite this, and fair amount of underground radio airplay, the never had more than a cult following.
"Two Hangmen" was perhaps their biggest hit. To this day it still receives airplay on radio stations across the country. The appeal of the song is that it tells a story which can be interpreted on many levels. At its most basic level, "Two Hangmen" is a protest song. The song is ostensibly set in the Old West. The narrator rides into town on a horse. There is a reference to Tombstone (presumably, Tombstone, Arizona, where the gunfight at the O.K. Corral took place). There is also a reference to a Marshall (the profession commonly held by heroes in Westerns). Despite this, the lyrics would seem to be directed against the Vietnam War and perhaps other perceived injustices of the time. "Freak" speaks from his gallows, telling the folks of the injustices that he has seen. Sadly for Freak, the people do not wish to listen. This reflects the situation as perceived by many protesters in the late Sixties. For all their protests, many of them could not help but feel that the general populace did not want to hear what they had to say. Furthermore, many felt as if they were being condemned for their views; not condemned to death, as Freak was, but condemned nonetheless.
