Original 1959 MONO original pressing, thick cardboard cover/black & silver CHECKER RECORDS label...
"GO BO DIDDLEY" (LP #2), the almost 60 year old LP shows an updated sound from his first LP and displayed how far the rock and roll sound was evolving by the end of the decade with a heavier emphasis on rhythm and blues and more prominent guitar solos including the all instrumental “Bo’s Guitar.” There is more variety on GO BO DIDDLEY than on his first LP. There are also many tracks that are simply blues tracks as well.
By 1959 rock and roll and blown up in popularity and had become the world’s dominate music for the youth after Elvis Presley introduced it to the white audiences but unfortunately despite having been the primary influence on Presley and many others such as Buddy Holly, DIDDLEY didn’t quite attain the popularity on the charts as did those he influenced but that has since been rectified to a certain degree and GO BO DIDDLEY has been recognized as the treasure trove of classic rock and roll that it is. For example Rolling Stone Magazine ranked it #214 on The 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time and it’s not hard to hear why when you throw this on for the first time and just let the grooves and rhythms take you back to a simpler time when the music was pure and unadulterated in its primeval forms. This followup is chock full of outstandingly catchy tracks not to be missed.
