SAX 2269-72 B/S – DER ROSENKAVALIER – SCHWARZKOPF, etc
The original magnificent Columbia stereo recording on blue/silver labels – boxed set of 4-LPs, catalogue numbers SAX 2269-72. Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss : Elizabeth Schwarzkopf, Otto Edelmann, Christa Ludwig, Teresa Stich Randall, Eberhard Waechter, Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Herbert von Karajan.
The 4 discs are beautiful, with just a faint inaudible mark on side 3. The box is intact but is very scuffed on corners and faded on spine and edges. The 64-page stapled libretto is intact, but the cover is faded and stained and has owner’s name in ink on front; pages have brown ageing at edges. The 8-page leaflet with cast list and notes is very scruffy with 2 torn pages.
