Description

This is a fine example of a UK mono pressing of Savoy Brown's 2nd LP from 1968. It's entitled 'Getting to the Point' and was released on the UK Decca Records label. The catalogue number is LK 4935. The record features the legendary Kim Simmonds on lead guitar and the music is a stunning blend of blues and psychedelic rock. The album is produced by Mike Vernon and the Recording Engineer is Roy Baker.

OUTER SLEEVE - The sleeve which is laminated on the front shows wear and creasing on the front. The top and bottom edges show some minor wear (there is a very minor tear on the top edge which is hardly visible and the spine is in fine condition (with some minor creasing) with the wording along the spine being 100% readable. Unfortunately, there is quite a lot of indiscriminate ball pen writing on the rear of the sleeve (I guess it's been done by a child) and this must be taken into account when grading the record. This is not a flipback type leeve and the rear of the sleeve is somewhat discoloured. It states at the bottom rear of the sleeve - 'Sleeve design by Decca Publicity Art Department - C 1968, The Decca Record Company Limited, London THE DECCA RECORD COMPANY LIMITED, DECCA HOUSE, 9, ALBERT EMBANKMENT, LONDON, S.E.1 - Laminated with Clarifoil made by British Celanese Limited - Sleeve printed in England by Clout & Baker Ltd. I've graded the sleeve VG.

INNER SLEEVE - This is a white diecut paper type with a clear plastic lining. There is a significant amount of printed wording on one side which starts - 'This long playing record is a high precision product...etc.' At the bottom of the inner sleeve it states - 'British Patent No.800513 Foreign patents pending MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN'.

RECORD - This has been well played and there are some minor surface marks on both sides which result in some minor surface noise at times. There are occasional pops and clicks but there are definitely no jumps or skips on either side. The labels which are the original red type (with the unboxed DECCA logo) with silver wording are in fine condition. There are definite spindle marks on both labels. It states at the top of the labels - 'LONG PLAYING ffrr - full frequency range recording'. The matrix numbers (ARL.8276P on side one and ARL.8277 on side two) are printed upside down above the catalogue numbers on the right side of labels. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - ARL-8276-1A (stampers 1    C) - side two - ARL-8277-1A (stampers 1    U). I have graded the record as VG++ and believe that this is very fair.

I try to grade all my items as accurately as possible and I will provide a full refund to any winner of my auctions who is not 100% satisfied. Please see my feedback for any references required.
