SATIN WHALE Desert Places (Brain 1049) RARE German Progressive 1st Pressing MINT
RARE German first pressing of "Desert Places", the debut album by German progressive rock band Satin Whale, released on Brain Records (1974).
Recorded in 1973 but only released the following year, "Desert Places" displays a wild mix of styles and influences, ranging from Jethro Tull (title track Desert Places) to Deep Purple, with a light sprinkling of krautrock "motorik". The musicianship however is never less than highly competent, making this record a highly prized prog rarity.
GRADING:
MINT(-) COVER. Practically perfect fully laminated sleeve. Tiny bit of laminate lift along the spine on the rear cover, typical of many Brain/Ohr/Pilz pressings of the time. Please see photos for details.
MINT(-) RECORD, again near-perfect. The record has a few very light hairlines from sleeve removal only. This record will prove difficult to find in better condition, ever.
PLEASE NOTE: Over the next few months, we will regularly be offering a number of rarities, mainly progressive and avantgarde records: A very discerning, long-time collector friend left us his treasure chest! Not only are many of these lps extremely rare, they are almost all in MINT(-) condition - both inside and out.
As we slowly inch closer to springtime, we will be spreading the goodies out, in no special order. Suffice to say that the best is still to come!
