SAMADHI
Original 1974 self-titled album – FONIT Cetra 1st pressing, cat. LPQ 09080
Debut and unique album by this Italian Prog supergroup, very rare and hard to find on its beautiful textured cover original press. Samadhi were formed after the split of Raccomandata Ricevuta Di Ritorno by the singer Luciano Regoli and the bassist and guitarist Nanni Civitenga, who produced the album. Along with the two members of RRDR, the band featured Stefano Sabatini on keyboards (from FREE LOVE and KALEIDON), Aldo Bellanova from TEOREMI at the bass, and drummer Ruggero Stefani from L’UOVO DI COLOMBO, plus Stevo Saradzic on sax/flute and Sandro Conti at drums/percussions.
The album is a nice mix of both Jazz and Pop influences from mid 1970s with Progressive digressions; two of the best tracks from the sessions are the heavy Jazz-Funk/Rock heater “Passaggio Di Via Arpino”, and the Christian Prog. Rock inspired track “L’Ultima Spiaggia”.
Stunning shape copy, very hard to find in such beautiful condition. Full album rip available upon request.
Recorded and mixed at Fonit Cetra studios in Turin, Italy, from 27-9-1973 to 4-11-1973. Lyrics by Enrico Lazzareschi
