Description
Early Rare SUN 265 release of Roy Orbison. This was recorded in January 1957. Orbison started recording with his band, the Teen Kings. The Teen Kings split up in December 1956 and Roy used Sun studio musicians for this recording, his third at Sun . The Sun years were a frustrating time for Roy Orbison. Sam Phillips wanted him to sing like Elvis, but Roy wouldn't have it! He had his own distinct style. He stayed at Sun until 1958. Roy Orbison went on to write hit songs for The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis and Rick Nelson. He also had many hits of his own! Roy would be inducted into the 2nd annual Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in New York in January 21, 1987. He was inducted by Bruce Springsteen who said, "In 1975, when I went into the studio to make Born to Run, I wanted to make a record with words like Bob Dylan that sounded like Phil Spector. But most of all, I wanted to sing like Roy Orbison." Roy Orbison died in December, 1988, and is considered on of the pioneers of Rock and Roll. Own this piece of history.
On Nov-26-06 at 08:27:19 PST, seller added the following information: I would describe the record condition as good. Both sides look very playable, but I haven't played them. The A side is really clean, perfect for framing. The B side has some blemishes that are minor. No chips on record at all.
