I think one great line of vinyl collecting is when initial issues of LP covers are changed due to complaints from record company executives, from censors, or from the buying public.

Remember the Beatles “Butcher Cover” and the Mamas & Papas “Toilet” Cover? Or how about the Dave Clark Five “No-Instruments” Cover or Blind Faith’s “Topless Girl” Cover? And don’t forget Three Dog Night’s “Nude” Cover and their “Birthing” Cover. Replacement covers were issued for all of these original covers.

Here in this auction you can win Roxy Music’s original cover for their “Country Life” LP as well as the replacement cover for. So in this auction are 2 LPs (Vinyl & Covers):

LP#1:

·       “COUNTRY LIFE” by Roxy Music

·       This LP was released by ATCO Records.

·       This is ATCO SD 36-106.

·       It was released in 1975.

·       This ORIGINAL COVER has 2 women in their underwear (semi-nude). It was found to be objectionable for obvious reasons. The ladies are standing in front of bushes or a hedge.

·       On the replacement cover, the ladies are gone but the bushes or hedge remain!!

·       The ORIGINAL COVER is GRADED STRONG VG. There is light to moderate overall wear and corner wear.

·       The VINYL that comes with the Original Cover is graded VG+ with just a few very light surface hairlines/scuffs.  

·       This LP also comes with its original custom inner sleeve with song lyrics. This inner sleeve has some corner creases and a 4-inch split on the bottom.

LP#2:

·       “COUNTRY LIFE” by Roxy Music

·       This LP was released by ATCO Records .

·       This is ATCO SD 36-106.

·       It was released in 1975.

·       On this REPLACEMENT COVER, the ladies in their underwear are gone but the bushes or hedge remain!!

·       The REPLACEMENT COVER is GRADED NICE VG CONDITION with light to moderate overall cover wear and wear on the corners at the top and bottom of the opening.

·       The VINYL for this cover is in VG CONDITION with light surface hairlines/scuffs. There are 2 very small ink marks on the Side 2 label.

·       This LP also comes with its original custom inner sleeve with song lyrics. This custom inner sleeve has a 7-inch split on the bottom and 5½ inch split on one side.  

So, in this auction, you get both the original and replacement covers. These 2 LPs go hand-in-hand and would look great framed in someone’s “vinyl room”!
