Description
This auction is for the original first pressing of the Rotary Connection 1967 self-titled album on Cadet Concept Records (LPS 312). This album features vocals by soul legend Minnie Ripperton. The original factory shrink has been keeping the cover wear-free while it has been stored away for 42 years, keeping the cover in Near Mint condition. The original sleeve is included (some minor creases), along with a near mint copy of the original vinyl. This is NOT a reissue, cut-out, or later pressing. This is the best copy of the original that is currently available on the market, and from a collection of thousands of rare, unplayed albums. Nearly every LP in the collection appears to have never been played, or if it has it was so infrequently that there are no signs of handling.
The sound of the album is so hard to describe, but it is something very special and original. It has a lot of pop and soul influences on it, but these are melded with a very dream-like psychedelic sound with Eastern instruments (sitars), and a full Orchestra. There are some very well known cover songs on here, such as Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone", Isaac Hayes' "Soul Man", and 2 Rolling Stones songs, "Ruby Tuesday" and "Lady Jane", among others. Hearing these songs with this Soulful, Psychedelic backdrop, plus hearing Minnie Ripperton's vocals included is truly a one-of-a-kind experience!
While it may be possible to find this LP elsewhere on ebay, it is very rare to find a first pressing in Near Mint Condition with the shrinkwrap still covering it. Don't pass up this opportunity to add a rare psychedelic soul album to your collection!
The Cover:
The cover appears nearly brand new. Keeping it in storage for so long with the original factory shrinkwrap has kept the colors looking very bright, shiny and new looking for all of these years. No signs of color fading, as this album has been kept out of any sort of light source for the past 42 years. The cover has retained its original glossy sheen, and the colors are still as vibrant as they were at the time of its retail purchase. There are no rips, tears, or creases, and this is not a deletion cut-out. The seams are all absolutely perfect with no signs of anything happening to them anytime soon with proper care. This record by all means looks almost new, and just a quick glance would make you think you were seeing a reissue. This album was never mishandled or treated poorly in any way.
The Vinyl:
This record has hardly ever been played (if at all), and it truly shows. This record is going to play exactly as if it were just purchased in 1967, especially on higher end equipment. There is no groovewear at all, considering it has almost never been played. This means no distortion that can be caused by constant, or even sometimes casual play. The labels are crisp and clean with no spindle marks. The spindle hole is exactly as it was off of the pressing plant, meaning it will fit tightly and securely on your turntable. The copy of this record is most likely the best sounding one you'll ever find, as most copies are sure to have been played more than a few times. You'll most likely be playing this record for the 2nd or 3rd time ever! Not bad for a record that is over 4 decades old!

Any record collector would be quite pleased to own a copy of this rare original pressing in such great condition. If you don't own a copy at all, then you really can't go wrong here. I would definitely give the quality of the vinyl a big "NM", and the cover is "NM" as well. I'm very confident that you will absolutely love this strange, soulful, psychedelic album when you receive it! Have fun bidding!
