Description

London 9641 dj by The Rolling Stones: I Wanna Be Your Man b/w Stoned. Here is a rare copy of the first Stones single. It has a repaired crack and two gentle warps, but plays very strong, as you'll hear on the sound clips. See the condition section above and the photos for exact condition. Having never heard this before I was happily surprised at the raw, bluesy sound, and the way the music leaps off the disc. It was obviously cut hot, with the levels all the way up, in an attempt to make a record with the immediacy of a Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, or Bo Diddley 45. Here you have the Stones paying tribute to the bluesmen who inspired them. It was destined to fall on the publics' deaf ears with Stoned being such an obvious drug song, with strange effects, no dj would play that more than once. And the flip was probably a little too direct in asking teen girls to "be your man". The Rolling Stones were unknown in the USA when this came out, and the record promptly tanked. Today of course, it's THE iconic Stones single, a rare and desirable 45, even with the gentle warp and repaired crack. The playing surface is very glossy and bright with a few small and light marks. Grade the playing surface without the crack and gentle warps, VG+.

Please listen to the sound clips of both sides to hear what all the fuss is about. There may be some slight distortion in the sound clip, because the record is cut so hot, and I didn't lower the recording levels in my computer to compensate.
