Description

PLEASE NOTE: I WILL ONLY GRADE AN OPENED LP NEAR MINT (NM) IF I CAN GUARANTEE IT HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED (i.e. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER).  OTHERWISE, NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) IS THE ABSOLUTE HIGHEST GRADE I WILL ASSIGN AN OPENED LP.

RARE unique banded promotional copy with complete lyrics on the outside of the LP cover and DEMONSTRATION NOT FOR SALE printed (NOT stamped in gold) in the top right hand corner on the rear cover and at the top of the labels on both sides.  Far rarer than a standard gold stamped promotional copy.  LP is a beautiful VG++/NM- with one or two barely visible paper scuffs and cover is VG/VG+ with a bit of ring.  Now for the real reason you're reading this.  A pair of ULTRA rare original 12 X 12 rigid two-sided in-store promotional displays issued by parent label CBS in 1987 (see photo 8).  These were purchased from a former Tower Records (R.I.P.) manager who was a big fan of Pink Floyd and decided to keep a pair from the Tower wall for her own private collection (which was staggeringly impressive).  She told me that 99% of these displays were either tossed after they were displayed or never displayed at all and then tossed.  Tower staff considered them disposable swag and clutter and as a result VERY few survived from the 80s.  Rare as hens teeth.  Displays are simply pristine with NO staple holes, tears, creases, stains, tape residue, peel spots, bends or cuts of ANY kind.  You will not be disappointed.  These are incredibly hard to find in any condition and simply impossible to find a pair in this condition as most surviving specimens were used with some sort of tape or staples.  I have been collecting Pink Floyd for 40+ years and only ever seen one of these displays before but it was in less than desirable condition and covered with peel spots from having the tape removed.  These are the kinds of rarities Floyd fans are going to be fighting over in the very near future so don't sleep.  Chances of seeing another lot like this are slim to none.


I USE GOLDMINE GRADING:   MINT (SEALED) NEAR MINT: LOOKS UNPLAYED VG++:  VERY VERY MINIMAL SIGNS OF USE VG+:  AVERAGE SIGNS OF USE, NOTHING DEEP, SUPERFICIAL VG:  STILL AN OK RECORD, NOISE BETWEEN SONGS GOOD: WORN BUT PLAYS FINE WITH DISTRACTING NOISE POOR:  FILLER COPY ONLY.  LOTS OF SCRATCHES
