Rod Taylor – ‘Mr. Music’ / ‘Version’ – R.T. & K.C. (Jamaica)

Very scarce roots reggae, produced by the great Rod Taylor himself and King Culture. A minor key masterpiece, reminiscent of Doctor Alimantado’s ‘Born For A Purpose’. Included in the Lonely Girl album, but certainly more attractive as a Jamaican 45. Great dub version, unavailable elsewhere.

Condition: Essentially excellent, though there are a couple of minor marks and some typical vinyl imperfections. The latter cause a couple of loud clicks on the version side; other than that the disc plays very nicely indeed (please listen to the sound clips). The title info on the A-side would have been legible had the centre been solid, but someone has written the song’s title with a ballpoint pen. The A-side label is very slightly smudged and somewhat off-white compared to the flip (please see scans).
