Description

Paul Robeson -
SCANDALIZE MY NAME -
3LP Box - Classic Records Library 30-5647 -
Heavy Platter Vanguard Pressings -
VERY FINE!

He was a man of tremendous voice, and tremendous conviction.

That he could have been a superstar is undeniable, but his strength of feeling about being black in America he held dear and foremost. Fact is, before the House of Un-American Activities, it was suggested he move to Russia, to which he responded:
"Because my father was a slave, and my people died to build this country, I am going to stay right here and have a part of it just like you."

Hear in this set his great strength of song. As Sir Arthur Bryant put it, from "the greatest interpretative artist of our time."

Selections include WATER BOY, OL' MAN RIVER, GO DOWN MOSES, SHENANDOAH, KING JOE, SONG OF THE PLAINS, MY CURLY-HEADED BABY, BY AN' BY, SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE A MOTHERLESS CHILD, VOLGA BOAT SONG, DEEP RIVER, JOHN BROWN'S BODY, and STATEMENT - WE ARE CLIMBING JACOB'S LADDER, among many others.

Box of this grand set is without fault. Records within are near mint.

For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
