Description

Hey Folks here is the Rolls Royce of Ricky Nelson albums: Teen Time (V-2083) on Verve Records from 1957! This is Rick Nelson’s first album, predating his first LP release for Lew Chudd’s Imperial Records by a whole year. Some have never even seen this album and only a few are privileged to own a copy this nice.

Teen Time has three Ricky Nelson songs on it plus tracks by Randy Sparks, Jeff Allen, Gary Williams and Rock Murphy, It is treated as Rick’s LP because of his prominence on the front and back cover. This was the only Ricky Nelson album released on Verve Records and books for $500.00 in Goldmine’s price guide.

Condition: Cover is Near Mint- (8). A beauty: with no ring wear or splits in the seams. The color is deep and rich. The seams have some pealing on the paper, but there are no splits. A little ding in the top seam and an inch crease on the right front of the cover (nothing major). The back cover is sweet with a super cool picture of Rick singing into a vintage microphone. A faded “19” is stamped on the back cover (not really worth noting, but for accuracy I am)

Vinyl is VG+ (6+). I played the album completely and there are no skips or loud pops. The A-side is almost prefect. The B-side, however, has five somewhat long scratches. Nothing that affects it’s play, but they are there. I’m not sure how they got there because the man I purchased the album from said that the album sat in a box since new with a lot of other 1950’s albums. Possible they are from taking the record in and out of the inner sleeve??? Or maybe the album was used as a demonstration record in the record store because the A-side is a beauty. I just want to stress that they are light and the album does not skip. I played the whole thing and it plays prefer. This album was a joy to play with some Great rockabilly songs. Including a version of Buddy Holly’s That’ll Be The Day by Jeff Allen.

I want my potential bidders to know that I grade conservatively…I’m a buyer too. The man I purchased the album from graded the vinyl as near mint, but I don’t think it is that nice. I also want my potential bidders to know that I will ship this album double boxed. First the record is removed from the cover and then placed behind it. The cover and vinyl are then placed in a Mylar LP sleeve. Then the album will be placed in a record mailer (especially designed for records) sealed and then placed in an over sized box with newspaper to protect the album from any recklessness on the part of the post office. Shipping is a little more, but I don’t want anything happening to this insanely rare album.

Tracks: Side One 1) A Teenager’s Romance-Ricky Nelson, 2) No, No, Napoleon-Randy Sparks, 3) Last Night-Jeff Allen, 4) Shortnin’ Bread Boogie-Rock Murphy, 5) Travelin’ Blues Boy-Gary Williams, 6) I’m Walking-Ricky Nelson

Side Two 1) You’re My One And Only Love-Ricky Nelson, 2) Once They Were Young-Randy Sparks, 3) That’ll Be The Day-Jeff Allen, 4) Electric Guitar Boogie-Rock Murphy, 5) I’m Gonna Return-Gary Williams, 6) Honey Rock-Barney Kessel

US buyers pay $6.50 for Priority Mail. I will ship this album overseas, as so many of my top condition albums have been, but shipping will be more.
