Here’s a record you simply don’t run across very often.
Offered here is an original 1971 U.S. pressing of Richard & The Sun Demons – Hasme El Milagro on the small Texas-based Buena Suerte Records label. Pressed during the golden era of Tejano and Chicano music, this LP blends ranchera, bolero, cumbia, soul, and Latin pop, making it an excellent snapshot of the regional Texas-Mexican sound of the early 1970s.
One of the album’s more intriguing moments is the group’s Spanish-language interpretation of King Floyd’s “Groove Me,” sitting alongside original material and traditional Latin influences. Independent Buena Suerte releases were produced in comparatively small numbers, and clean original copies have become increasingly difficult to locate.
