Here we have a 12" LP: Earthquake Studio: Dub Harder Than Steel,on Earthquake Studio (blank)label. Original UK pressing from early 90s or so, this record has rarely been played and aside from storage scuffs and small marks, is in near mint store stock condition. Both labels are clean and bright. Outer sleeves are near mint though a bit riffled up from stretching while being held to cover by scotch tape. This is exactly as this record came and this one is very well preserved. Some stickers on outer sleeves as well, look at the photos please. Well cared for since original purchase. Heavy UK Dub sound on both sides, Shaka killer! (no idea if Jah Shaka ever played the record but he should!) Getting rare in this condition! Paypal preferred for all payments! Well it looks like I picked up a couple of fans out there who have left me negative feedback. Since ebay does not really let a seller respond to situations like this, let me address these feedbacks here: first that left by cbar4653 on Dec 5. Mr Cbar is from England and had purchased one of my 7" records back in October. He initially did not respond to my invoice but after a msg or two finally paid and I shipped the item. Heard nothing back until early December when he filed an ebay "case" against me, initially claiming the record had excess surface noise, and wanting a significant refund of the purchase price. I informed him that I had recorded the record before sending it and I didn't hear any excess noise. I offered to issue a full refund including postage if he sent the record back; that was the last I heard of him until he filed this negative feedback. He was issued a full refund from eBay's buyer protection program, who found me not responsible for any damages, so he ended up with this record for no cost...yet he STILL left me negative feedback. Note that the "reason" for the negative feedback was there were some spindle marks on the label...something never brought up with me and if it were I would point out it should be visible in the photos in the auction. second, that left by funkyriddms on Dec 10. In this case Mr funkyriddms won a 12" record in early November and upon receiving my invoice, wrote back that I was profiteering from shipping in that I was charging him 8$ instead of the 5$ ebay insists on assigning to the auction, and which I specifically address in the text of my auction and explain that the cost for domestic mail will be 8$. I also pointed out that, as I mention in my auction text, I will be more than happy to issue a refund for any excess postage of note (say, a dollar or more), but that wasn't good enough for Mr riddms, he wrote back and insisted I could send it in a used mailer, via media mail for less. I do not send used dirty mailers nor do I send records media mail for reasons I have gathered from years of using the mails and I told him so and again asked him to pay for the shipping as invoiced and if it was excess to the actual cost (including new mailer) I would cheerfully refund the excess. Never heard back from him until this past week when he dropped the F bomb, the Neg F bomb to be more exact, after more than a month of no contact nor response to my non-payment case I filed against him when it became apparent he was not communicating. Frankly, if any potential bidders out there think either of these two gentlemen had a leg to stand on in their feedback after reading my side of the story, I think it best you not bid on my auctions as I doubt you will be happy with the results. All other reasonable people out there, many thanks for your support these past months and your honest and timely feedback. I am embarrassed by the feedback from these two clowns but do realize they represent a tiny minority of honest record buyers out there, and it is to the vast majority that I try to tailor my auctions. Please read and understand all I write below and if any questions please contact me...and for Gods sake if you are unhappy with your purchase contact me FIRST before you drag ebay into it...in the vast majority of cases a solution bearable by all parties can be found. Shipping will be $8.00 in the USA, $14 to Canada or Mexico and $21 elsewhere, please contact me ahead of your bid if you would like special consideration on shipping...I strive to ship at cost but that cost has to include boxing material if I have to buy it, and for overseas customers you probably want me to buy it than charge you the exorbinant cost sending priority mail overseas entails. In the case that there is a significant difference between what it costs me to ship you the item and how much I charged you, I will gladly refund the overcharge IF YOU USED PAYPAL TO PAY and of course you will get charged by PP for the privilege of receiving the refund. If you do not pay with paypal then I cannot refund unintentional shipping overcharges, but I do try to keep shipping costs down to what I actually pay to ship. PLEASE IGNORE the "shipping cost" below...Ebay is making me enter a lower cost than it will actually cost me to ship the item. Shipping charges will be as explained above. Thank you. ATTENTION: It has come to my notice that I need to be very explicit about my expectations on my auctions. I will send an invoice within two days of the closing of the auction and I expect that invoice to be paid within two days of receipt, or, at least, be notified that there will be some delay in payment. If payment is not received within two days and I do not hear from the winning bidder, I will message the winning bidder and request payment politely. If no reply within a day I will file a non-payment case with ebay and if payment is not forthcoming, will relist the item. I have decided to start letting off some of my 40-year reggae record collection, a small bit at a time, for many weeks to come. I am currently going through some 12" discos and basically what I am going to do is pull out 10 records per weekend and offer them up at a starting price of $5.99 and then let the massive decide how much they are worth! Before reggae music caught my ear I was a audiophile wannabee (the wannabee part involving amounts of money required to be a true audiophile). Consequently in my mind, early on, any surface imperfection could be deemed to ruin the record in an audiophile (wannabee even)'s mind. Of course that all changed for me when I began listening to reggae music, as we all know some of the most atrocious pressings of some of the greatest music in the world must come from Jamaica. What I am leading up to is the grading system I will use. Most all these records are what could be referred to as "store stock", that is to say, near new, but with some imperfections possible right from the pressing plant. This seems the norm for Jamaican vinyl, in the past as now. Some or many pressings are quite good, but some leave something to be desired particularly if they are repress of old original records. What I will do is if the record varies from this standard ("store stock") I will note it in the description, for better or for worse. But all records have been well cared for and typically not "played out" and subjected to abuse. Thats where the audiophile comes in...I have always been very careful with my vinyl and these records in most cases will show that. Many of these records were played once and recorded and then the recording played from that point on, so unless I bought the record second hand it is still sounding as good as the day it was issued. Most of these records were bought new at the time of issue from retail outlets in various parts of the world and in many cases I can remember the exact circumstance of purchasing them. Whether something is a reissue or the original I generally do not know except to be able to say when and where I originally purchased it, but back in the early to late 80s I practically lived in record stores hence that's the source of my copy, and most of the record stores I frequented bought direct from Jamaica and/or the UK. The problem of telling an original from a reissue I will leave up to the bidders on the auction. You will also notice the cryptic grading in the corner of some record sleeves, in the form of A, B, C, etc followed by a slash followed by another grade. This is my purely subjective grade of how I like the song, vocal side (or A side) first, followed by the slash and the rating for the version side (or B side). There might also be some notes written at random on the sleeves. These were reminders to me as to what to use for air play or in playing out somewhere, rarely would I play a record not rated A or A+ unless I was very hard up for something to play. But again it is a subjective rating and I expect that others might argue it both pro and con. So have fun with my auctions and please bid freely and generously!
