Description

An original late 1st issue on UK HMV from late 1962. This title was 1st released in summer 1962 in the UK - on maroon/gold label. The copy we have here would have been on the shelves in late 1962 for the Xmas market - just as HMV had done a total re-design of their label. A big hit in summer 1962 topping the charts. This particular pressing comes as the album is falling down the charts in late autumn. Note the tax code = "ZT"... this is strictly a 1962 tax code. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono E J Day cover. We also have the correct HMV advertising inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In super condition - particularly considering the vintage. Has seen light use and has been very carefully looked after. Under close inspection I could only make a few very superficial marks per side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with two deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with super clarity. A beautiful player - if you can't get excited by the music and pressing quality of this record...there's something wrong with ya! Very little background observable except for in the one track. The low-key tracks play clean too... but in "Love You So Much" - I picked out a few very slight ticks and the odd crackle here and there. Nothing bad - it just doesn't play as clean as the rest of the LP. I also detected a couple of clicks midway through 'Worried Mind'. By and large an absolute corker!
Cover (Ex) Difficult to find looking this well preserved. Lovely clean and flat front cover with no creasing or laminate lift. The rear has pretty much avoided the ageing process - which makes it look very impressive. All flipbacks are intact and secure. Very little edge wear and nice firm openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture. A real looker!
