Raro EP a copertina non apribile, a 6 tracce, pubblicato nel 1983, con inserto di 2 pagine riportante i testi in inglese e note biografiche in giapponese. OBI a colori a sfondo bianco e rosso, riportante il prezzo di yen 2.000.

I Ratt sono un gruppo heavy metal formato nel 1978 a San Diego, California. Con il loro melodic heavy metal, risultarono uno dei gruppi rock più popolari degli anni 80. La formazione storica era composta dal vocalist Stephen Pearcy, i chitarristi Robbin Crosby e Warren DeMartini, il bassista Juan Croucier, ed il batterista Bobby Blotzer. Con il loro debutto discografico autoprodotto, l'EP omonimo Ratt (1983), furono notati dalla Atlantic Records. Il primo full-length, Out of the Cellar (1984), ottenne un enorme riscontro, raggiungendo la Top Ten americana e vendendo oltre 3 milioni di copie. "Round and Round", il primo singolo estratto, raggiunse la 12° posizione, confermando l'elevato potenziale del quintetto. Il secondo album, Invasion of Your Privacy (1985), non ottenne il multi-platino come il suo predecessore, ma vendette un milione di copie. Entrambi i successivi Dancin' Undercover (1986) e Reach for the Sky (1988) continuarono sulla scia del successo, permettendo al gruppo intensi tour con tutto esaurito. L'album finale, Detonator decretò il declino e lo scioglimento del gruppo. Prima che la band divenisse famosa sotto il nome di Ratt, il gruppo esordì più precisaemente con il nome di Mickey Ratt. Tuttavia non sarebbe corretto parlare ancora di Ratt, poiché l'unico membro sopravvissuto alla band successiva fu il frontman Stephen Pearcy. Nel 1980 la band si ricollocò a Los Angeles per incrementare le possibilità di trovare un accordo con una major label. Poco dopo, il batterista John Turner abbandonò la formazione, venendo rimpiazzato da David Alford. Più tardi lo stesso anno, il chitarrista Jake E. Lee (all'epoca noto come Jake Lou Williams) raggiunse la band incidendo il singolo Dr. Rock / Drivin' on E, per sole cento copie. Questo permise al gruppo di esordire nei locali di Los Angeles. Nel 1981 il nome della band venne accorciato in Ratt e Matt Thorr abbandonò il progetto. A sostiuirlo fu Joey Cristo (Joey Cristofanelli). La formazione però ebbe breve vita, poiché Lee, Alford, Hager e lo stesso Cristo abbandonarono presto la band per fondare assieme i Rough Cutt nel tardo 1981, capitanati dal frontman Paul Shortino. Subito dopo la dipartita di Jake E. Lee dai Ratt, si presentò alle audizioni un certo Tracii Guns, all'epoca proveniente dalla band Pyrrus. Tuttavia egli non venne incluso nella formazione, e nel immediato 1983 fonderà gli L.A. Guns con l'amico Axel Rose. A sostituzione dei precedenti membri, si aggiunsero alla band il chitarrista Marq Torien, che raggiunse la formazione nel giugno di quell'anno, il bassista Juan Croucier (Dokken) ed il batterista Khurt Maier. Croucier all'epoca manteneva un rapporto parallelo anche con i Dokken, ed aveva registrato con questi il loro debutto discografico, Breakin' the Chains nel 1981. I Ratt composero il brano "Tell The World" per la compilation Metal Massacre uscita nel giugno 1982. Jake E. Lee dopo un breve periodo nei Rough Cutt, entrò nei Dio, e nel ottobre 1982 nella formazione di Ozzy Osbourne, a sostituzione del temporaneo Brad Gillis (Night Ranger), che a sua volta aveva rimpiazzato il defunto Randy Rhoads. Anche Joey Cristo abbandonò i Rough Cutt, e venne sostituito dall'altro ex bassista dei Ratt Matt Thorr. Cristo raggiunerà più avanti i Sin e i Jag Wire. Nell' ottobre '82 Marq Torien abbandonò la band. Dopo questo periodo, Torien militerà per un anno nei King Kobra nel 1986, per poi fare strada con i BulletBoys pochi mesi dopo. A sostituzione di Torien subentreranno i chitarristi Warren DeMartini e Robbin Crosby. Inizialmente questa formazione vedeva Gene Hunter al basso. Anche Maier lasciò il gruppo nel 1982 e venne rimpiazzato da Bobby Blotzer (Robert John Blotzer), che aveva collaborato alla registrazione delle prime demo dei Dokken, con il fratello di Juan, Tom Croucier. Khurt Maier intraprenderà in futuro altri progetti, e nel 1986 sarà membro dei Salty Dog con cui pubblicò il disco Every Dog Has Its Day per la Geffen, ma il gruppò non avrà seguito. Infine i Ratt saranno quindi composti da Pearcy, dal bassista Croucier, dai chitarristi Crosby e DeMartini, e dal batterista Bobby Blotzer. DeMartini aveva solo 18 anni quando venne contattato dalla band.

Ratt è il loro primo EP pubblicato nel luglio 1983 per l'etichetta discografica indipendente Time Coast Records, fu un grande successo, e vendette oltre un milione di copie. Con questo esordio la band iniziò ad attirare pubblico anche al di fuori del sud California. EP conteneva la hit "You Think You're Tough" oltre alla cover di Rufus Thomas "Walkin' the Dog". Questa traccia inoltre era già stata ripresa dagli Aerosmith, che l'avevano inclusa nel loro omonimo Aerosmith (1973).

Ratt are a heavy metal band formed in 1978 in San Diego, California. With their melodic heavy metal, is one of the most popular rock bands of the 80s. The historical formation was composed by the vocalist Stephen Pearcy, guitarists Robbin Crosby and Warren DeMartini, bassist Juan Croucier and drummer Bobby Blotzer. With their self-produced debut album, the self-titled Ratt EP (1983), were noticed by Atlantic Records. The first full-length, Out of the Cellar (1984), got a huge response, reaching the American Top Ten and selling over 3 million copies. "Round and Round," the first single, reached the 12th position, confirming the high potential of the quintet. Their second album Invasion Of Your Privacy (1985), did not get the multi-platinum as its predecessor, but sold one million copies. Both later Dancin 'Undercover (1986) and Reach for the Sky (in 1988) continued on the success, allowing the group toured with intense disappointment. The final album, Detonator decreed the decline and dissolution of the group. Before the band became known under the name of rats, the group began more precisaemente with the name of Mickey Ratt. However it would be incorrect to speak of yet Ratt, as the only surviving member of the band was later frontman Stephen Pearcy. The training was short-lived however, as Lee Alford, Hager and Christ himself soon left the band together to found the Rough Cutt in late 1981, led by frontman Paul Shortino. Immediately after the departure of Jake E. Lee from rats, we auditioned a Tracii Guns, the time from the band Pyrrus. But he was not included in the training, and build in 1983 immediate LA Guns with his friend Axel Rose. A replacement of former members, joined the band guitarist Marq Torien, which reached the training in June of that year, bassist Juan Croucier (Dokken) and drummer Khurt Maier. Croucier then maintained a parallel relationship with Dokken, and had recorded with them on their debut album, Breakin 'the Chains in 1981. Rats composed the song "Tell The World" on Metal Massacre compilation released in June 1982. Jake E. Lee after a short period in Rough Cutt, entered into God, and in October 1982 in the formation of Ozzy Osbourne, replacing the temporary Brad Gillis (Night Ranger), who in turn had replaced the deceased Randy Rhoads. Ratt is their first EP released in July 1983 for the independent label Time Coast Records, was a great success and sold over a million copies. With this debut, the band began to attract public outside of Southern California. EP contained the hit "You Think You're Tough" over the cover of Rufus Thomas 'Walkin' the Dog. " This track also had been recovered from Aerosmith, who had included in their self-titled Aerosmith (1973).
