Description

Rare World War II V-Disc 12” 78 RPM Records . Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Media Mail.

Extremely rare to be found with original War Department Box.

V-Disc (“V” for Victory) was a record label that was formed in 1943 to provide records for U.S. military personal. Captain Robert Vincent supervised the label from the Special Services division.

The label was a moral boosting initiative involving the production of recordings during World War II by arrangement between the U.S. government and record companies. Artists would records well wishes before the songs for the soldiers. Produced from October 1943-May 1949.

One of the conditions under which AFM musicians would record V Discs was that the records couldn’t be resold and had to be destroyed after the program ended. The armed forces destroyed original masters and discarded V-Discs left behind at bases and on ships. Sets like these are hard to find especially in this condition.

All 20 records are in good to very good condition. The box is labeled Release R B-Disc Phonograph Record. Box does not contain needles.
