Original and rare first press unreleased version of this vinyl LP recorded at 700 West studio in Indiana. There is another red letter non-gatefold LP version that turns up occasionally but this version was never officially released with red lettering and a gatefold cover. I was contacted by lead guitarist Jay Wilfong regarding this particular pressing shortly after I mistakenly referred to it as a second pressing and he informed me of the following:
"The Red Logo pressing that you are offering was UNRELEASED and was produced before the Gold Logo versions that WERE released. Why were the red logo versions not released? After they went to the pressing plant I decided to add an additional 4 songs (2 45's), the map, etc.... and I also did not like the red letter look of the cover. BUT...the one you are offering is EXCEPTIONALLY RARE simply because only a handful of copies (under 10) made it away from the band." - Jay Wilfong
This also includes an original unpeeled Buccaneer logo sticker in mint condition (see first photo) and was not released with the 2 bonus 45s and treasure map as explained in his message.
The high gloss vinyl is near mint and looks unplayed. There are very faint light splotches that may have occured from the printed inner sleeve that do not affect the clean playback. No scratches, scuffs or other damage. The labels are excellent with no spindle trails or other markings. The sturdy gatefold cover is VG++ with some very light ring/shelf wear. No split seams and only one corner ding on the lower part of the spine. The printed inner sleeve is flawless with no split sides or creases. The LP has been stored in a separate white sleeve to protect the original inner sleeve. Very nice shape.
