Description
Up for sale is a holy grail for post-punk collectors: the authentic, 1981 UK first pressing of New Order’s debut 7" single, "Ceremony" b/w "In A Lonely Place".
This is the historic Version 1 recording, featuring the remaining members of Joy Division (Sumner, Hook, Morris) immediately following the passing of Ian Curtis, recorded before Gillian Gilbert joined the band.
Why This Copy Is Essential:
True 1981 Damont Pressing Matrix: The dead wax features the definitive hand-etched "DAMONT" signature, confirming its absolute first-run pedigree from the famous UK plant:
Side A: FAC 33 A-1 • DAMONT • WATCHING FOREVER
Side B: FAC 33 B-1 • DAMONT • HOW I WISH YOU WERE HERE WITH ME NOW
The Original Iconic Sleeve: Housed in the legendary Peter Saville-designed metallic copper/gold-bronze sleeve. Because of the delicate texture and metallic finish used by Factory Records, finding copies that aren't completely worn down is incredibly difficult.
Audio History: Contains the raw, poignant original arrangement of both tracks, captured at Eastern Artists Studios in New Jersey.
Condition Report:
Vinyl: [Insert Grade, e.g., EX/VG+] – Glossy vinyl with only light superficial hairlines. Plays beautifully with minimal surface noise. Labels are clean with no writing or tears.
Sleeve: [Insert Grade, e.g., VG] – Shows honest age but the distinct copper metallic sheen remains strong. Light ring wear and edge scuffs as pictured. No splits, no tape, no heavy stains.
Shipping & Packaging:
Professionally packed in a heavy-duty, dedicated vinyl mailer with the record removed from the sleeve to prevent seam splits during transit. Tracked and insured shipping worldwide.
Don't miss the chance to own a foundational piece of Factory Records history. Bid with confidence!
