Up for grabs is an original copy of Funkadelic Maggot Brain vinyl LP from 1971 on Westbound Records. This is a PRC Richmond press from 1971. Visually, the vinyl rates G+ for side one and VG+ for side two. There are two significant scratches on the last two songs on side one, but they don't affect play as much as they would appear to. There is a tick for the last 15 seconds of track three and about the first 15 seconds of track four, but other than that, just some crackles here and there. No skips created by these scratches. Although nothing really stands out visually, there is a persistent click for the first minute of Maggot Brain. There is also some significant background noise throughout the remainder of the song. Maybe an ultrasonic cleaning could help resolve some of those issues. Obviously, Maggot Brain was the most played song on the LP. Side two must have hardly been played because it is actually very quiet throughout. Plays like a VG+ (or better) record. It is even quiet between tracks. The cover rates a VG with quite a bit of wear but no seam splits. Originals are tough to find, so even though side one has some audible issues, this is still a collectible piece of vinyl. Like I said, I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, but perhaps that may correct some of the issues on side one.
