THE ORIGINAL STAR WARS AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE HEARD
A history lesson first: In 1977, 20th Century Fox did not know what they had! Being very cautious, they released the soundtrack album weeks before the film to "try to generate interest in a space opera." Fearing that Star Wars would bomb, publicity was minimal. Until the weekend Star Wars was released. The rest is history as we know it. What little faith 20th Century had in the soundtrack album was a price shock, when the albums flew out the record stores by the thousands! The company had to go to press again and printed up more soundtrack albums. For those few who bought the soundtrack back then and kept it sealed, that would provide audiophiles in the 21st Century with that wonderful sound the way Star Wars was meant to be heard! In June of 1977, I spent $6.45 on a 2-LP album which would have normally cost almost $10! It was so cheap, I bought 2! And one of those LP's is for sale.
This Star Wars soundtrack LP is a virgin copy! It is mint. The plastic wrap is still on the album jacket with the actual price still printed clearly on it. The plastic wrap has pulled away from the lower right hand corner on the front of the album jacket and that corner has a slight ding (what do you expect from an album that's 38 years old!). The sticker that says "Full Color Poster Enclosed" is still attached. Overall, this is not bad considering the age of the album! If it were perfect (with the plastic wrap intact), the value of the album would be $100 according to several album price guides. F-L Collectibles is offering this remarkable gem for the low price of $70.99 plus shipping!
