Welcome back to another round of the world's rarest Soul and Funk vinyl, courtesy waterpolo85.

For your consideration, we have: DOUGLAS and LONERO "Live at Charley Brown's" on Haji Records, circa mid '70s. There are many dubious "funky" lounge records out there, almost none of which are worth more than a chuckle. This, however, is hands down the BEST lounge record I've ever heard. For starters, the sound is professionally recorded. More importantly, Douglas and Lonero, who have a couple of rare northern soul 45s on RCA, are an excellent live act. Side 2 is stellar all the way through, with a non-stop medley of Barry White's "I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little More Babe," "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by the Temptations, "What's Going On" and "Mercy Mercy Me" by Marvin Gaye, and more. A must-hear for anyone who has lost all respect for the sonic back-alleys of "funky" lounge.

Condition: this original, vintage copy is Cover: VG++, with a very small tear near upper left corner and mild shelf wear, mainly on back cover. Vinyl: overall strong VG+, with side 1 being closer to VG and side 2 (the better side) being closer to VG++; as the soundclip will attest, plays beautful.
