Description
This was found in one of several boxes of new records in the basement of Tulsa's famed Church Studio that was once owned by Leon Russell and then by Steve Ripley of the Tractors. It has new ownership now. I can not find any hint that these were ever released as I have researched on the net for them. Anyways side one has Brian Wilson and Roger Christian in parenthesis. ( an ebayer wrote to tell me that that means the song was written by Brian Wilson ) and the Okie Choir & Surf Band in large letters. The song is Side Walk Surfing which is a really cool song about skateboarding in the style of the Beach Boys Surf music. On side 2 is Ridge Rider with Paul Brewer, Jack Meyers and Steve Ripley. Side 2 does not list Brian Wilson or Roger Christian. All are produced by Steve Ripley on the label, Tulsa Records. It is stereo and also has Silvertone Music BMI on it The date is 1978. We could not find any information on the Oklahoma choir and surf band and do not know what musicians and singers were on it. (Tulsa circles included a lot of well known musicians from Leon Russell, JJ Cale, Clapton and their musical pals so who knows who actually sang on this. It actually sounds like the beach boys though so who knows. An ebayer who took the time to write tells me that Jan and Dean released this song as well.
I would welcome any info if you find it. I have about 25 of them
