Description

Up for auction is the rare Beatles' Vee Jay 498 (US) 45 "Please Please Me b/w Ask Me Why" with the BEATLESname spelled correctly in thick print on both sides of the label. The 2007 Perry Cox and Frank Daniels Beatles' US Records Price Guide (6th Edition), page 71, estimates Near Mint Value, back then at $2500 and rank it arguably a Number 10 Most valuble/collectible Beatles' record variation in their Guide! My record is obviously not near mint but would be an excellent starter piece for a young collector or a collector who does not own one yet. It was my first and I have proudly owned it over 25 years! The photos should tell the story on condition. Noted Beatles' Author Bruce Spizer utilizes a decimal system number for this 45 as VJ 498.05. I am including a very nice original Vee Jay protective sleeve which is correct for this release, as shown above. This 45 of course is printed with the rainbow labels and has the MR in a circle and Audio Matrix both machine stamped in the trail off areas of the 45. Oval labeled 45 released in the Spring of 1963.

Some additional condition notes: there is some black magic marker ink on the PPM label that I have not attempted to remove. Previous owner was probably attempting to blacken some wear area; There is a small chip in the vinyl on the PPM side that doesn't affect the song play. Its on the edge of vinyl; minor scuffing on both sides but the record still retains a lot of its gloss; Absolutely no question about its authenticity here!

Highest bidder over $100 wins this rare piece! All sales are final on this piece so ask any questions before you bid please. USPS Priority shipping will be $5.80; International Bidders will probably pay approximately $10 (US) for shipping; PayPal or cashiers check (US bank only); I reserve the right to end the auction early PRIOR to the first bid since the 45 may be for sale locally; Good Luck!!
