RARE 60's vintage vinyl issue in dramatic silver foil cover ... hardly ever/never see this one, especially with a nice foil cover ...the old sixties foil covers get easily scuffed and scratched, especially some 40 years later...this copy, very collectible with a minty clean platter.

Like the 1950's psi-fi soundtrack, Forbidden Planet, 1971's The Andromeda Strain is one of the few Hollywood productions to feature an electronic music score. The soundtrack was composed by composer-musician Gil Mellé. It is a unique blend of electronically generated sound, manipulated taped sounds (musique concrete) and some traditional instrumentation (piano, double bass, percussion), punctuated by bursts of electronic white noise and pink noise. The meshing of such 'way-out' music would soon be coined 'progressive space.' At the same time period ('71) there was a creative scene in Germany where adventurous bands released albums on the OHR Records label, very similar to the experimental 'space music' of the Andromeda Strain. CONDITION: Old silver foil covers are nearly impossible to find clean as they scuff and scratch from anything they get near...this cover is a survivor, VG++, strong and stiff with no problems other than a little shelf wear that should not be a problem being a keeper collectible
