Description
Don't be fooled by the ratty looking sleeve (it is 35 years old, after all), this is a new unplayed copy of the single "Don't Blame Me" b/w "$porting Life" by the short lived Sydney band The Tenants. This was recorded in 1979 at Now Studios who were at the time in Oxford Street Darlinghurst, on a 4 track tape machine... just 500 copies were pressed independently and sold mainly through Phantom Records in Sydney and Missing Link records in Melbourne.
Although classified here as punk/new wave, it probably owes more to the mid to late 70's British bands that played regularly at places in London like the Hope and Anchor pub, Nashville Room and Greyhound pub.
As a special bonus, the winner of this auction will also be entitled to receive an emailed copy of an MP3 of the brand spanking new 2014 recording of "Don't Blame Me", with new improved lyrical content, a bigger sound, some nifty slide guitar and (draws a deep breath), harmonies on the chrous!! The other interesting factoid relating to this new version is that the guitars and drums and harmony vocals were all recorded in the UK, while the main vocal was recorded in Sydney... this is a BIG recording... so big in fact, that it spans over 16,000 kilometres and 35 years from the writing of the original! I might even be inclined to throw in a couple of jpegs of the band if you're lucky.
