Description
This is the 1957 Mono LP by Heifetz featuring most notably the Vitali Chaconne, along with the original piece "The Lark", and the Fauré Sonata.
The LP has the purplish RCA shaded dog label. The numbers in the run-out show the matrix number and both sides are stamped A1 (see photos). I played the entire album twice, and there are no skips, and minimal ticks and crackling. The latter occurs noticeably in the first and last 30 seconds on each side. Some additional cleaning might reduce this. The sound is otherwise exceptionally clear for its age.
For a sample: I have posted on YouTube the Chaconne with minimal editing. Of course the conversion from analog to digital does lead to some changes in sound, but I have tried to keep as accurate as possible to the LP. Please follow this link for the Chaconne I recorded from this album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rpcy1KNm2XM
Overall the LP is in wonderful condition - quiet and appears to have been well taken care of during the last 65 years.
