Description

Rare! 1952 ANNIE ROSS solo EP-45 Annie Ross Sings, NM-   Description This week we have the opportunity to sell several early 1950s jazz EP-45s on the Pacific Jazz, Prestige, Storyville, Fantasy, DeeGee, Trend and Clef labels; see our other auctions for more titles. Others on Prestige are by Stan Getz and George Wallington. Back in the formative days of long-play recordings, Prestige Records produced a series of "documentary" recordings of "jazz for the modern collector on extended play." This extended play 45 rpm record is dated 1952. Long before her years of fame as the female third of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, this solo recording by Annie Ross, ANNIE ROSS SINGS, was released as part of that series. It's Prestige #prEP-1301. There are 4 songs: Twisted, Anne's Lament, The Time Was Right, and Farmer's Market.

This copy is in very attractive condition. The disk appears to have been played rarely, if at all; we grade it NM- and it may be better than that if you make the effort to clean away the patina that 52 years have added to its surface. The strong VG+ or better jacket has light shelf wear (as you probably can see in the photo) but basically is clean and all its seams are intact.

[This is only the 2nd copy of this recording we've ever seen. We checked www.gemm.com to see if other copies are for sale anywhere, and found none. Moreover, we checked for other titles from the same series (24 of which are listed on the back of the jacket) and found only one. These few facts (or lack of facts) suggest that this is indeed a rare item. The other copy of this disk that we sold in 2000 sold for $110.]

Packed for shipment, this will weigh just under 1 pound. We have calculated shipment within the USA by Media Mail at $2.52. However, if you wish Priority Mail or Parcel Post or an international rate, that's fine. Just let us know your postal needs and we'll calculate any rate that may serve you best.

Thanks for checking out this JMECKL item. For other offerings of intriguing records and unusual lots of records, please check our auctions (JMECKL) and our eBay store (JMECKL'S ENJOY AND COLLECT RECORDS) this week and every week. Check our Feedback and buy with confidence!

  Payment and Shipping Info

SHIPPING COSTS: The buyer in our auctions or store always is responsible for shipping costs. Most of our merchandise is "media" and qualifies for low-cost Media Mail in the US -- which can be slow but is economical.

For this item, the high bidder pays $2.52 for shipping and handling, to any US location, if the buyer chooses Media Mail. We recommend Priority Mail when speed or safety is paramount and we recommend Parcel Post or Priority Mail for merchandise that is not "media." Price varies for Priority Mail and for Parcel Post according to location, but typically these services are roughly double the Media Mail rate. Consult us for exact cost. The quoted shipping cost of every package we ship is the actual postage plus $1.10. This "handling" fee covers the average out-of-pocket cost of shipping materials -- boxes, bubble wrap, etc.

  • POSTAL INSURANCE: Insurance is optional and must be requested by and paid for by the buyer. Insurance costs whatever USPS is charging for it, which depends upon the value of the shipment. If you want insurance, just tell us so in advance of payment. Because postal risks are low, and postal insurance rates are high, we don't require insurance or even recommend it except on costly items.
  • INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS: INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS MUST CONTACT US PRIOR TO SENDING PAYMENT TO DETERMINE EXACT SHIPPING COSTS. Tell us whether you want airmail (usually one week) or surface mail (usually 5-7 weeks, but roughly half the price of airmail). Insurance is optional. WE FILL OUT CUSTOMS FORMS HONESTLY; please do not ask us to enter false information about the nature or value of your merchandise.
  • COMBINING SHIPMENTS: We love to save you money on postage! Get several items and ship them in one package. You can instruct us to hold onto merchandise until you accumulate a larger package through later purchases. Or, if you buy a "lot" but only want some of the items, tell us which items to withdraw from the lot and your postal costs will drop (though you still must pay the price for the lot).

eBay's most successful sellers use Auctionworks sales management services

On Sep-03-04 at 07:02:05 PDT, seller added the following information:

e © AP6.0      Summary of My Selling Policies Payment We accept PayPal, BidPay, money orders, personal checks, or cash in the mail. We do not accept credit cards directly -- only through PayPal or BidPay.

Please do us the courtesy of paying within 10 days. Fees Each package we ship costs the actual postage plus $1.10. This is the average cost of tape, bubble wrap, boxes and other materials we use in order to assure successful shipment. Perhaps you can re-use these materials but our primary purpose is to get your merchandise to you in the same condition it leaves here.

We collect no sales taxes at this time. Shipping We ship anywhere you say. In the US, we usually ship by Media Mail because it's economical, and we quote Media Mail in all relevant auction listings. We gladly will ship by Parcel Post, Priority Mail, or Express Mail in the US; just let us know after the auction and we'll gladly calculate the rates for you.

International shipments may be airmail or surface mail. Surface mail is often very slow, so for speed and safety reasons, we recommend airmail. Either way, let us know your preferences at the end of the auction and we'll calculate the rate.

Want to save on shipping? Buy more than one item and ship your winnings in one package.

Don't see any more auctions that interest you? We try to do at least 50 new ones each week, so you can wait a week or two if you wish, in order to shop more items. Also, check our "About Me" page on eBay for another option. Delivery We ship several days each week, usually within 2 days of payment, and often the same day. Refunds & Returns We sometimes give refunds; sometimes we give credit; sometimes we make other arrangements, depending upon the nature of the problem.

The first thing to do, always, when there's a problem, is to contact us. Don't get mad; don't ship anything back; just get in touch. We strive to achieve 100% buyer satisfaction. Contact Me The fastest way to contact us is by e-mail, which we check several times per day. Rarely does e-mail wait more than a day or two.

We're always open for business, of course, since business is done electronically. We have no bricks-and-mortar site. We exhibit only at one live site: the International Record Show at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in July. BID WITH CONFIDENCE
