You are bidding on a Vinyl issue of The Ramones’ 1977 LP “Rockets To Russia” issued on Sire Records; (SR 6042/NP). This LP is an import, released by Sire Records in Portugal. 

The Ramones were an American punk rock band that formed in the New York City neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens, in 1974. They are often cited as the first true punk rock group. Despite achieving a limited commercial appeal in the United States during their time together, the band saw more success in England and Brazil, and are today seen as highly influential.

We purchased this item decades ago, played it (and enjoyed it!), and it has been sitting in our home (vertically) for the last few decades. 

The condition of this item is very close to perfect. The LP is in near mint condition. The LP cover is still in the original Shrink Wrap, with only a slit on the side to be able to remove the LP.  (Please see photos). The LP cover is in near mint condition; the corners look sharp. Please remember that this album was well taken care of, but it was played as part of our record collection decades ago. with only very minor wear

Ramones:  Rocket To Russia (1977): 

Rocket to Russia is the third studio album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, and was released on November 4, 1977, through Sire Records. Its origins date back to the summer of 1977, when "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" was released as a single.

“The Ramones provided the blueprint and Leave Home duplicated it with lesser results, but the Ramones' third album, Rocket to Russia, perfected it. Rocket to Russia boasts a cleaner production than its predecessors, which only gives the Ramones' music more force. It helps that the group wrote its finest set of songs for the album. From the mindless, bopping opening of "Cretin Hop" and "Rockaway Beach" to the urban surf rock of "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" and the ridiculous anthem "Teenage Lobotomy," the songs are teeming with irresistibly catchy hooks; even their choice of covers, "Do You Want to Dance?" and "Surfin' Bird," provide more hooks than usual. The Ramones also branch out slightly, adding ballads to the mix. Even with these (relatively) slower songs, the speed of the album never decreases. However, the abundance of hooks and slight variety in tempos makes Rocket to Russia the Ramones' most listenable and enjoyable album -- it doesn't have the revolutionary impact of The Ramones, but it's a better album and one of the finest records of the late '70s”.

“Even superfans of The Ramones are forced to admit that the band's songs can be pretty samey, but careful listening will help one uncover a few examples of artistic evolution and shifting tones from album to album. While it's only marginally refining the tropes of its earliest material, I'd consider Rocket To Russia to be the crown jewel of the group's catalog; I'd certainly say that it's The Ramones' "punkest" record”.

“Like the first two LP's, Rocket To Russia contains over a dozen songs that flaunt buzzsaw power chords, stupid-smart lyrics, shout-along choruses, breakneck tempos, and overt nods to the pre-Beatles rock n' roll of the early 1960's (The Trashmen's "Surfin' Bird is one of the cover tunes included here). "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker", "Teenage Lobotomy", and "Rockaway Beach" would become perennials within the Ramones' live show, but the deep cuts can pop out just as fiercely”.
