Description

Firstly, this is NOT a 1st press "day-of-release" copy. Let's get that straight. You need to be VERY CAREFUL with this release for a number of reasons. Don't make the mistake of looking at the photo's and thinking this is the "1/1" very 1st release - IT IS NOT. This record, although it's difficult to make out on the pics, is the later "2/2" matrix ending. But does still exhibit the same text etchings as you find on the early copies "She's Out With Her Answerphone" etc. The very earliest copies are easy to spot as they have a red £ sign in the Trade Mark circle. As you will note, on this copy, the "£" sign is absent. In fact, you can find some copies where one label exhibits the £ sign and the other does not [indicating the new variation was available back-to-back with the "£" version]. The BENDS came out Spring 1995 and was a slow-burner. I would estimate that this copy comes from late'95 or '96 whilst the album was still charting. But by this time vinyl was basically dying on it's back and the switch to CD was almost complete. You really need to insist on these earlier copies because I can assure you they are going to blow all the later crappy reissues [Crapitol & XL etc] out of the water. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover. With an original inner sleeve - note, again, the "O%" is present on the inner signalling that this isn't the earliest version available. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. And, as I argue above, if you need absolute top-level preservation...this is where you'll find it.
Vinyl (Ex+) An absolute sensational copy which has seen only the very slightest use. Under close inspection I'm struggling to spot any marks at all. It's shiny like new. Intros and inbetweens are perfectly silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback without reservation. BENDS really needs a perfectly quiet copy to deliver the ambience and mood to full effect. Any background interference and it's going to spoil the listening experience - big time! Can't really imagine a better playing copy to be honest. It's delivering the manic high-powered moments with precision and power. The lower-key moments are conveyed with confidence and ease. It's basically the total package. If you need this LP to deliver the album like it was 1995 with a nigh on faultless rendition - you need to seriously consider this copy. FINAL UPGRADE - no sweat.
Cover (Ex+) Well, if the vinyl wan't impressive enough - check out the cover. I would imagine the only way of equalling the preservation on offer here is to whip one out of the original '95 packet. It's stunning. Perfectly flat and uncreased or marked front and back. Almost perfect. If I would being incredibly picky I'd mention some super-low level indentations right toward the top on the front. But they are borderline invisible and I suspect occurred during printing. Edge wear is totally absent. It's not often you can say that on any record let alone a 25 year old copy. The spine is perfect - look at the shots...that spine will not be beaten! The cover retains perfect rigidity and the openings are sharp - just like new. FINAL UPGRADE.
Inner (Ex+) Faultless in every way. Feels and looks like it was printed yesterday.
