Description
Michael Rabin plays short works with Felix Slatkin and the Hollywood Bowl Symphony. Capitol Records SP 8510 stereo.
US pressed top logo disc. Side one is NM, side two is visually VG+ with some light marks causing scattered light tics which do not intrudes significantly on the listening experience. Plays very nicely, with great sonics. The performances speak for themselves. One of the finest virtuoso violin records ever made (see story about the Perpetual Motion below).

Hollywood Bowl Orchestra Conducted Felix Slatkin recorded 1960
The Paganini Moto Perpetuo on this disc was recorded in one take. The story goes that the engineer wanted to get sound levels. Rabin started the Paganini and immediately everyone realised it was something special and within a fraction of a second conductor orchestra and soloist were as one. It was decided to issue the take for its perfection and sheer driving pace. As one listens to it, it is indeed one of those great moments in the recording history of the violin - thank you Michael Rabin.
