 Once in a long while, a truly rare collectible becomes available on E-Bay and I believe this is such an occasion.

This is your chance to own a very rare piece of Rock History. This release does not show on any discography including the Rush official website This single pre-dates Rush’s first album released in 1974, titled RUSH. This is both the very first recording release of the band RUSH and the premiere release of the MOON Records label (check the photos). Very few are aware of the existence of this 45, and even fewer is the number of these 45s in existence. This is an authentic product. The disc has been in my possession since it was pressed. The label on the A side is in almost immaculate condition while the B side is not (see photo- this, I have no explanation for). Although there are several  “scuffs and scratches”, it plays absolutely quiet with NO crackle whatsoever. The white spot on the enlarged B-side photo is just light reflection and not on the vinyl.

 The A side is a cover of the blues classic “Not Fade Away” which was also covered by the Rolling Stones and the B side is a RUSH original co written by Getty Lee and founding member of Rush and original drummer, John Rutsey .

This addendum addresses the question asked by potential bidders as to why I had "no explanation" for the condition of the B-side label. A couple of months ago I decided to part with the record and took it out of the sleeve (just a generic sleeve- it was placed in a box along with my other personal 45s), and set it up for some photos. The photos were perfect and the labels on both sides were ok. When I finally decided it was time to post it on EBay, I composed the description and then took the record out to play it to make sure it played clean, which it did no crackles, pops etc. When I turned to the B-side, I was shocked- the label was bubbling at the edges and there was a small piece of it missing I went back to the photos I had taken and the label was perfect in the photos.(I still have those photos). I had no explanation because since taking the photos, the record has been mostly in my office safe and that would not explain the "wet" mystery. A feasible explanation could be that in the process of taking the photos at the back of my shop I possibly placed the record on something "wet and maybe sticky" while I removed the backdrop etc. and then unknowingly I placed the record back in the sleeve and put it back in the safe facing down the iron floor of the safe. If the label was wet, then the dampness could cause the label to "blister" and if something sticky had attached itself to the label then it would stick to the inside of the sleeve. But when I checked the inside of the sleeve there was nothing there-hence the mystery, I have no other explanation. At that time I took new photos of the B-side. It is accurate to say the record has only been played maybe 15 times total. The surface "scuffs" and scratches mainly on the B-side are probably due more to the removing the record in and out of the sleeve over the years to show curious friends and peers that this single exists.
