Up for sale is an original period Roy Rogers 78 rpm disc, beautifully signed by Roy himself. Not sure how old the signature is, however I have seen records by artists from the 20's signed with this kind of white paint pen who didn't live past the early 70's, so it's very likely the signature is old. I wouldn't imagine anyone would have this kind of pen on hand to sign a 78 in the 1990's say, or that most people would choose to have of all things, a 78 signed that late (Roy died in 1998 for context). Nonetheless it is somewhat surprising I don't see more records signed by Roy coming up in recent times. Instead it's mostly hollywood promotional photos, themed lunchboxes, guns and other such fare. The records were as much an essential part of this man's legacy and his impact on a generation as the films, so this should be of interest to many Western fans, Rogers collectors, or just someone who Rogers may have been their childhood hero. The disc is in very nice presentable condition, as are the labels and the signature reads clearly. However, the record does have a hairline crack which appears to have been professionally repaired at some point which can be observed in one of the photos. Nontheless a wonderful item overall.
