ROY HAYNES – CRACKLIN’ WITH BOOKER ERVIN – NEW JAZZ 8286 – M-/M- - MONO
Recorded at Van Gelder’s studio on April 10, 1963, this Prestige session features Roy Haynes on drums, Booker Ervin on tenor, Ronnie Matthews on piano and Larry Ridley on bass. SIDE A: SCOOCHIE; DORIAN and SKETCH OF MELBA. SIDE B: HONEYDEW; UNDER PARIS SKIES and BAD NEWS BLUES. In the blank vinyl, on both sides is stamped “VAN GELDER”. This is a MONO recording.
I have graded both the LP and the record jacket as M- for the following reasons. The vinyl on both sides is clean of any marks. There is no sign of wear in or around the spindle hole. There are a few marks, but no sign of wear. The vinyl still retains its original luster. The record jacket is in near mint condition, with no real signs of wear. There is some slight discoloration on part of the liner notes, but does not take away anything from the general all round condition.
